House leadership reviewing social media post of Democratic Rep. Julie von Haefen depicting a beheaded Trump
The Wake County Democrat is facing pushback over a video she shared that included an image of a protester holding up a sign depicting a beheaded Trump. House GOP leadership is reviewing the matter.
North Carolina state Rep. Julie von Haefen of Wake County shared a video on Facebook on Saturday that featured an image of a protester holding up a sign at a “no kings” rally that advocated for President Donald Trump’s beheading.
“In these difficult times, some cuts may be necessary,” the sign reads.
While von Haefen isn’t holding up the sign herself, her decision to post it is raising eyebrows. The Center Square first reported on the graphic social media post.

Republican House Speaker Destin Hall condemned the post in a statement on Sunday, saying he and legislative attorneys will be reviewing the matter. He voiced particular concern given that it came on the heels of Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband being killed in a politically targeted shooting.
