State Rep. Sarah Stevens running for Supreme Court
Rep. Sarah Stevens, one of the House's longest-serving members, on Wednesday announced her run to unseat Democratic Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls next year.

North Carolina state Rep. Sarah Stevens, a Surry County Republican who’s been in the House since 2009, announced on Wednesday that she’ll seek to oust Democratic Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls.
“I will be a conservative voice for justice and families on the Supreme Court,” Stevens said in a statement. “My experience as a family law attorney and a state legislator has prepared me to be a voice for those who cannot advocate for themselves.”
Stevens, a Mount Airy native, has been a licensed attorney in North Carolina since 1986, where she’s specialized in family law. Since joining the legislature in 2009, she’s climbed up the GOP ranks, serving as the second-highest ranking Republican from 2017 to 2024.
