North Carolina Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein will be the state’s next governor, making history as the first Jewish person to lead the state.
Bolstered by a significant campaign war chest and a deeply flawed Republican opponent with a highly disorganized political apparatus, Stein handily carried the Tar Heel State.
As of 8:50 p.m., Stein was ahead of Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson 52% to 43%, with 23% of the estimated votes in.
