Stein signs $528M Helene relief bill
House Bill 47 received final legislative approval on Wednesday. With it, western North Carolina will soon receive $528 million to help recover from Hurricane Helene.
North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein signed his first bill into law on Wednesday.
Under House Bill 47, western North Carolina will benefit from $528 million in state relief to address Hurricane Helene.
An additional $217 million will aim to complete housing reconstruction in eastern North Carolina from Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. The measure passed with near unanimous support and was signed into law within a couple hours of its final passage.
“We will never be fast enough for what people need,” Stein said.
