A federal judge on Sunday blocked a provision in a sweeping new elections law that deals with same-day voter registration.
Under Senate Bill 747, North Carolinians who registered and voted on the same day would have had their ballot rejected if a verification notice sent to their home via the U.S. Postal Service was returned as undeliverable.
