Robinson drops CNN lawsuit, says he won't seek future elected office
Former Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson announced on Friday he wouldn't run for U.S. Senate next year and that he would end his ongoing lawsuit with CNN.

Former Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson on Friday announced he was ending his defamation lawsuit against CNN and had no plans to seek elected office in the future.
“Costly litigation and political gamesmanship by my detractors makes clear that continuing to pursue retribution from CNN is a futile effort,” Robinson said in a statement.
He added, “I will not run next year, nor do I have plans to seek elected office in the future.”
Plagued by internal campaign dysfunction and revelations first reported by Anderson Alerts and described in comprehensive detail by CNN of sexually explicit posts reportedly made by Robinson on a pornographic website, Robinson last year experienced the worst loss of any gubernatorial candidate in North Carolina since 1980.
In the final weeks of his campaign, he filed a lawsuit against CNN as well as a source quoted in a story from The Assembly about Robinson frequenting a video porn shop in the 1990s and early 2000s.
