Democrats tap ex-prosecutor Phil Rubin to fill seat of late Rep. Joe John
On Tuesday, Wake County Democrats chose John's successor. He was seated on Wednesday.

A group of Wake County Democrats on Tuesday tapped former federal prosecutor Phil Rubin to fill the seat of late Rep. Joe John, who died from cancer last week.
Rubin’s selection to represent House District 40 went to Democratic Gov. Josh Stein for final procedural approval, per state law. And Rubin was formally seated on Wednesday.
