No expedited hearing in dispute over state Senate map
In a win for Republicans, a lawsuit contesting a state Senate map likely to give the GOP a supermajority was dealt a major blow.
U.S. District Court Judge James Dever on Monday denied a request for an expedited hearing challenging a newly enacted state Senate map likely to allow Republicans to maintain their supermajority in the chamber.
In his order, Dever expressed frustration with two eastern North Carolina voters who waited weeks after voting maps were enacted to file their lawsuit.
