The next 24 hours of vote counting
Counties are meeting Thursday and Friday to review ballots. In very close races, the next 24 hours could determine the winners.
North Carolina county elections officials are meeting Thursday and Friday to count outstanding ballots from the Nov. 5 election.
And at 11 a.m. Friday, all 100 county boards of elections will meet to tally up their mail-in and provisional ballots and certify results of local elections. On Nov. 26, the State Board of Elections will certify final results of all other contests.
For the vast majority of contests, the outcomes are already known. But for a handful of key races, the next 24 hours will determine a candidate’s fate.
