From Ted Budd's brother to major GOP donor to voter fraud espouser, Republicans approve slew of new appointments
The selections come as Gov. Roy Cooper sues over Senate Bills 512 and 749, measures that strip him of many of his appointments on key commissions and boards.
North Carolina Republicans on Wednesday approved a five-page list of appointments onto the judiciary and several state boards and commissions.
The move comes as lawmakers granted themselves expanded power through the state budget, Senate Bill 512 and Senate Bill 749. Those same bills also stand to reduce or eliminate Gov. Roy Cooper’s appointment authority in several areas of state government. Cooper has sued over the latter two bills, which would block many of the appointments GOP leaders made on Wednesday.
