As it stands, Democrats Terence Everitt and Allison Riggs (left to right) could face recounts from their Republican opponents for their respective Senate District 18 and state Supreme Court races.

On Friday, the vast majority of North Carolina counties finished tallying up votes for the Nov. 5 election. But the process is far from over, especially in races where recounts can still be requested.

More than 5.7 million ballots have been recorded, and some races remain very close. So it’s worth going over what will happen in the coming days and weeks…
