North Carolina on Monday added its name onto a list of states seeking to compel Congress to hold a constitutional convention.
While critics worry such a step could create a constitutional crisis and lead to sweeping rewrites of the U.S. Constitution, proponents of the North Carolina bill see it as a simple mechanism to force Congress to limit how long its members can serve.
