In Hurricane Helene relief bill, GOP lawmakers seek major overhaul of state elections board

Buried in a 132-page Helene relief bill is a provision that would flip the political balance of the State Board of Elections.

State Rep. Destin Hall and Gov.-elect Josh Stein will tangle over the State Board of Elections. Republicans are now seeking to prevent Stein from making appointments onto the board when he takes office in 2025.
