During a bill-signing ceremony, Republican Sen. Kevin Corbin touted the size of the latest wave of funding for Hurricane Helene. But was it the most North Carolina has ever spent on a disaster?

During a bill-signing ceremony on Wednesday, Republican state Sen. Kevin Corbin of Macon County claimed House Bill 47 was the most sizable disaster relief bill North Carolina lawmakers have enacted in state history.
“This is the largest recovery bill that’s ever been passed,” Corbin said.
It sounds accurate. It feels accurate. But is the claim actually true?
