Bo Hines
In 2022, Republican Bo Hines ran with the support of former President Donald Trump.
At a gala in New York last month, Trump gave Hines a shout-out, telling the crowd: “Bo Hines is here. He’s going to be a congressman very shortly.”
But less than 72 hours later, Trump made a U-turn, endorsing little-known lobbyist Addison McDowell.
Hines’ strategy now: Maintaining the flattery campaign.
“We were certainly surprised by it, but again, we respect the president,” Hines told me in an interview. “And I firmly believe that I have made a name for myself as being one of the America First leaders in this state and I think that voters recognize that.”
Hines now faces the task of convincing voters he’s the most Trump-aligned candidate in the race, even as Trump doesn’t align himself with Hines.
