Who's running for statewide office and key NC congressional races?
Meet the candidates running in North Carolina's Council of State races, four statewide judicial contests and how redistricting has shaped legislative seats.
Helpful Resource Alert!
From Dec. 4-15, many aspiring North Carolina political officeholders will submit paperwork with the State Board of Elections to formalize their candidacies for the March 5, 2024 primary.
In the meantime, I want to help folks keep up with who’s running. So I’ve created a running spreadsheet of aspiring statewide and congressional officeholders. I’ll continue to update it as more candidates hop in.
You can keep up with updates by bookmarking this link for all developments and candidate announcements for Council of State, NC Supreme Court, NC Court of Appeals, U.S. House, NC Senate and NC House races.
As candidate filing takes place, I will update the list of legislative candidates. Because there are 170 legislative races and too few announced candidates at this point in time, I’ve placed the current incumbents who aren’t seeking a different elected office into the districts according to where they’ll be in 2024. Also of note: I’ve marked Democratic incumbents likely booted out of their districts as open seats (i.e. Sen. Natasha Marcus and Rep. Diamond Staton-Williams).
If you are a candidate and I missed you or are running for something other than what is listed, just send me a note and the spreadsheet will be adjusted accordingly.
