Former NC Superintendent candidate Michele Morrow seriously considering primary to Tillis
Last year, Morrow stunned GOP party leaders by ousting Republican Superintendent Catherine Truitt. Morrow now has her eyes on a bigger political target.

Little more than one year ago, North Carolina home school parent Michele Morrow pulled off the biggest primary upset in the state, ousting Republican Superintendent of Public Instruction Catherine Truitt.
Today, Morrow has her eyes on higher office and an even bigger political target: U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis. She’s seriously considering primarying him, and a final decision could come soon.
“I am committed to doing all that I can to ensure that the best interests of the citizens of North Carolina are fully and vigorously represented— here and in Washington,” Morrow told Anderson Alerts exclusively.
She added, “That includes working to grow and unify our party and making sure that we have a solid conservative candidate running for Senate in the 2026 General Election. That seat is too important to leave to chance.”
Paul Shumaker, a spokesman for Tillis, clapped back. “Because of Thom Tillis’ leadership, Republicans have built a solid record of winning at the state and national level.”
