If you had said at the beginning of this year’s legislative session that Republican lawmakers wouldn’t increase funding for school vouchers or pass a bill compelling local sheriffs to cooperate with ICE (a measure that passed in two previous sessions), nobody would have believed you.

Yet as lawmakers ready for summer break, that’s precisely where things stand right now. And there’s no new budget coming anytime soon.
