Democratic state Sen. Lisa Grafstein is running in a reshaped legislative district in 2024. Her safe Democratic seat is now in a tossup district.

The Wake County Board of Elections on Thursday will be the first to weigh in on a candidacy dispute against Democratic state Sen. Lisa Grafstein of Wake.

If the complaint filed by potential Republican general election opponent Scott Lassiter is successful, Grafstein could be forced out of her seat or get booted off the March 5 primary ballot.

Whatever the county elections board decides is likely to be appealed to the State Board of Elections.
