NC lawmakers are considering $500 million in Helene relief. Here's where the money would go
On Tuesday, North Carolina lawmakers will discuss a proposal to spend $500 million on Hurricane Helene recovery. And unlike a bill last year, money would go out the door this time.

North Carolina lawmakers on Tuesday will meet to consider a $500 million spending bill to help western North Carolina recover from Hurricane Helene.
As last year’s session wound down, lawmakers shuffled $227 million from one state fund to another, but didn’t actually get that relief out the door to the impacted area.
Under a draft of House Bill 47 obtained by Anderson Alerts, the lawmakers would transfer $275 million to the Helene fund.
From there, a total of $500 million would be spent as follows:
