North Carolina lawmakers on Tuesday sent Democratic Gov. Josh Stein a technical corrections bill. The 25-page measure is supposed to include minor tweaks to previous spending bills. But it’s raising eyebrows among a handful of Democrats, particularly in Granville County.

On Tuesday, it passed with little discussion by a vote of 69-35.

In the 2023 budget, state lawmakers gave the city of Oxford $10 million for a regional water project. Then-Rep. Frank Sossamon, a Republican, and then-Sen. Mary Wills Bode, a Democrat, championed the effort.
