NC Dems see intraparty clash over budget cuts

North Carolina Democrats find themselves at odds over the state party’s latest $2.9 million spending plan.
If enacted, a fellowship program aimed at recruiting college students from historically underrepresented communities would be suspended, according to a draft budget obtained by Anderson Alerts. The NCDP’s executive committee is scheduled to approve the plan at a winter meeting in Wilson on Saturday.
The decision to nix a relatively small line-item from a more than $2.9 million budget has fueled internal backlash.
