Wake County's lone GOP state lawmaker launches congressional bid
In an interview, state Rep. Erin Paré shared what voters could expect from her on education, abortion and the economy if she's elected. She also pledged to serve the remainder of her state House term.
North Carolina state Rep. Erin Paré, a Wake County Republican who has worked to enact legislation limiting access to abortion and combatting questionable public school teachings, on Wednesday announced her congressional bid to unseat Democratic U.S. Rep. Wiley Nickel.
Paré has served in the state House since 2021 and is the GOP’s lone Wake County representative. She said she will continue serving in the legislature as she runs for Congress, ensuring Republicans keep their legislative supermajority.

Paré is the wife of an Army veteran, mother of two, former PTA president and co-owns a Play It Again Sports store alongside her husband.
