Dueling presidential rallies with a clear contrast
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley spoke in Raleigh, while former President Donald Trump held a rally in Greensboro. Here's what you need to know from the events.
With three days to go until Super Tuesday, the two leading Republican presidential contenders made their closing arguments to North Carolina voters on Saturday.
At an event in Raleigh with several hundred attendees, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley spent half an hour discussing the need she saw for a leader of a younger generation to take the helm and move the country forward.
“The people of North Carolina have a decision to make: Do you want more of the same or do you want a different direction?” she told the crowd, adding, “We don’t anoint kings in America. We have elections.”
Meanwhile, in Greensboro, former President Donald Trump delivered an 83-minute speech in front of an estimated 5,000 attendees largely airing his personal grievances, ranging from personal indictments to his continued refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election.
“They want to silence me because I will never let them silence you,” Trump told his supporters.
