Republicans tap rules chairman Destin Hall to lead House GOP next year
Republican state Rep. Destin Hall of Caldwell County will lead House Republicans come 2025. The House GOP caucus met on Tuesday to tap him to succeed Speaker Tim Moore.
North Carolina House Republicans decided on Tuesday to select rules chairman Destin Hall as the chamber’s next speaker.
Hall has been a critical player in the GOP’s redistricting efforts over the years and has worked to keep a 72-member coalition united. With House Speaker Tim Moore moving to Congress next year, Hall will be tasked with reigning in staunch conservatives and keeping centrist Republicans in swing districts together on key issues.
