Cotham to run for state House reelection, avoid contested congressional primary
North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham has told Republican colleagues and party leadership that she'll run in the newly drawn House District 105.
North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham, who gave Republicans a supermajority when leaving the Democratic Party in April, will run for reelection to the state House in 2024 under a new tossup district, according to three sources familiar with the matter.
Cotham has privately informed Republican colleagues and GOP leadership of her decision to run in the new House District 105, the sources told Anderson Alerts.
Cotham’s reelection bid paves the way for other Republicans to jump into the 8th Congressional District without fear of another formidable primary opponent in the race.
Cotham didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
