Cooper directs state agencies to place less emphasis on college degree requirements in hiring practices
According to Cooper's office, about 75% of state job classifications either don't require a college degree or allow experience to be substituted for education.
North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper on Monday issued an executive order directing the Office of State Human Resources to add a line on job postings that relevant work experience can serve as a substitute to a college degree for most state jobs.
The move comes as North Carolina faces a sizable state worker shortage.
