Bo Hines mounts 2024 congressional run, sets himself for primary showdown against former Rep. Mark Walker
The 28-year-old Republican lost to Democratic Rep. Wiley Nickel last year outside Raleigh. In 2024, Hines will run in the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area.
Republican businessman Bo Hines on Thursday filed paperwork to run in North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District, setting up a primary showdown with former U.S. Rep. Mark Walker and an intraparty fight over former President Donald Trump’s base of support.
Hines is also running against Republican Army veteran Christian Castelli, plastic surgeon Mary Ann Contogiannis and High Point Mayor Jay Wagner. Collectively, the five GOP candidates are vying for the seat currently held by Democratic Rep. Kathy Manning, who is likely booted out by redistricting.
The newly drawn district includes all of Davie, Davidson and Rowan counties and parts of Cabarrus, Forsyth and Guilford counties.
