Six key NC races head to recounts

In the state Supreme Court race and five legislative contests, second-place finishers have requested recounts. Counties will begin recounting ballots on Wednesday. Recounts could extend into December.

Democratic Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs and Republican Court of Appeals Judge Jefferson Griffin are neck-and-neck in their 2024 Supreme Court bids.

Second-place finishers in all the statewide and legislative races that meet the threshold for a recount have filed paperwork to direct such a recount.

Of these, the state Supreme Court race is the only one that’s still too close to call.
