Republicans send bill to governor to boost fundraising for Robinson, punish protesters using masks to conceal identity
On Tuesday, GOP lawmakers approved a bill that would give Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson another fundraising avenue to close a money gap he faces against Attorney General Josh Stein.
North Carolina House Republicans on Tuesday approved a measure aimed at giving Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson a fundraising boost in his gubernatorial contest against Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein.
Under House Bill 237, the Democratic and Republican governors associations and other 527 organizations would be able to contribute unlimited sums to state parties, which would then give them to state-level campaigns.
Currently, individuals can already give unlimited sums to state parties. With the proposed changes, however, people would now be able to do so with greater secrecy.
